Taskroot keeps your projects and tasks on your devices and in your own iCloud account, through Apple's CloudKit. We don't have an account system, and we can't see your projects.
With Apple Intelligence, suggestions are made on your device and nothing leaves it.
With Claude (Taskroot Pro), when you ask for suggestions for a task, Taskroot sends our server that task's title and notes, its project's name, and the titles of the project's other tasks on the chart (up to 80, each marked done or not), so the suggestions fit what is already there. Our server passes them to Anthropic to write the suggestions. Our server doesn't store them. Anthropic handles them under its commercial terms and doesn't use them to train its models.
To check that you have Taskroot Pro, the app sends the App Store's signed record of your subscription. From it our server counts each subscription's plans and suggestions this month and today, to keep within Taskroot Pro's monthly allowance. The counts are kept under a scrambled subscription number, with nothing you wrote, and start afresh each month.
To learn which features people use, Taskroot counts events in Amplitude: which feature was used, where in the app, and how many — for example “a task was added on the chart” or “a plan was made with 7 steps”. It never sends anything you wrote: no task, project or tag names and no notes. Events carry a random identifier made on your first launch and kept in your iCloud, so your devices count as one person; it is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account, and it isn't used for advertising or shared with data brokers. Turn it off in Settings → Privacy.
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details. RevenueCat receives the App Store's record of your subscription (product, price, dates) with the same random identifier, so we can see how many people subscribe and renew.
If you turn on AI assistants in Settings, Taskroot listens only on your Mac, for apps that have the token you copy to them. Nothing goes through our server.
